Tonight's game was pretty good. It was the first round of the playoffs. In the second period, after scoring first we were down 4-1.We rallied back to 4-4 to force overtime. Right at the last second of the overtime, the other team had a wide open net but our goalie snagged the puck with a heroic glove save. Everyone thought it was over as that opponent took his shot. We made hella noise. In the shootout we lost, but we were proud of our valiant effort.
I had a good game personally. I scored the second goal and that changed the momentum. It was a breakaway goal. I deked twice to forehand and scored 5-hole. Later I got an assist off the face off. I made some good defensive plays too. I think I grew noticeably since last time I played. All that stickhandling practice at home paid off. The couple of inches I cut off my stick right before the game might have helped too.
Before the game I was hesitant about going too. I was ambivalent because I wasn't sure if I had enough energy to play the whole game, after being inactive for over a month studying. I'm really glad I manned up and went. Our team would have been short a man, and they wouldn't have had a fighting chance. This is a good memory, well worth the effort.
This topped off a pretty good day (read previous entry).
1. Jaffa cakes - This tops my list of things that I miss about London. They were around a quid at Tesco in London, but costs more than $3 in the US. Nonetheless, I will be paying a visit to Shakespeare's Corner Shoppe this weekend to get me some Jaffa cakes. *screams like a girl at a concert* I've been craving these all day today.
2. Popchips - My brother bought these from Henry's, and I've been addicted to them ever since I had my first bite many moons ago. I made Paul go with me down to the Henry's in North Park last night just to get some. Whoever invented Popchips is a genius. Seriously, they are so tasty that Paul couldn't put them down. He blamed it on the MSG, but there is no MSG! It's an all-natural chip that isn't baked or fried. The barbeque flavor is my favorite.
3. Haribo gummi bears - The fact that my family buys them by the 5-lb bags is an indication of our addiction. I like to eat the white gummi bears (pineapple flavor) and make Paul eat the rest.
4. Chocodates - A former contract specialist intern at work sent these to the office a few weeks ago. I had so many in one day that it made me feel sick. Nonetheless, they are so good that I will continue to stuff myself with them. Sadly, you can only buy them in the Middle East (my former co-worker currently works in Kuwait). I will have to remember to buy them when I visit Dubai. I will add to this list as I gain more snack addictions.
I've noticed a trend that started while I was in undergrad. Everytime an exam comes up, I'll start cooking. I guess it's my way of de-stressing (or could it be procrastination?).
